Change or reset your password
If you want to change or reset the password you use to sign in to Windows, you have different options. This article outlines the different approaches you can take, whether you’re using a Microsoft account or a local account, logged in or at the sign-in screen

Important: Microsoft accounts, the Windows operating system, and other Microsoft products include passwords to help secure your information. This article provides some options that you can use to reset or recover your password if you forget it. Be aware that, if these options don’t work, Microsoft support can't help you retrieve or circumvent a lost or forgotten password.
If you forgot your password and need to reset it, you can do so from the Windows sign-in screen. If there are multiple accounts on the device, choose the one you need to reset. After you've entered an incorrect password, look below the password text box:
